The Story of the Original Speedy
The original bag was created in 1930 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, grandson of the founder, and was initially called the "Express." It was inspired by the shape of suitcases used for train travel. In the 1960s, it was renamed the "Speedy" to emphasize its practicality and versatility, becoming an icon beloved even by Audrey Hepburn.
Collaboration with Richard Prince
Former Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs has collaborated with several artists to reinterpret iconic bags, including Richard Prince in 2008. The "Aquarelle" collection injected a touch of contemporary art into the classic Speedy model.
- Design:The design features the classic LV monogram printed on white canvas, "splashed" with a vibrant watercolor effect in 17 shades of pink, purple, yellow, and orange. The blurred, overlapping effect on the watercolor monogram is a hallmark of Richard Prince's work.
